As a Commissioner, I led Weld County in investing in the Veterans Services Department's leadership and improving operations and efficiency.  I supported overhauling the Veterans Services Department and moving it to the Department of Human Services building.

The relocation of the Veterans Services Department to a centralized location increases accessibility for veterans and their families. Veterans can easily access services without having to navigate multiple locations.Co-locating the Veterans Services Department with other human services agencies promotes collaboration and information sharing among staff members. This collaborative environment fosters efficient service delivery, streamlines administrative processes, and eliminates duplication of efforts, ultimately improving the overall effectiveness of veteran support programs.

By moving the Veterans Services Department closer to additional services offered by the Department of Human Services, such as healthcare, housing assistance, mental health support, and employment resources, veterans can access a broader range of services more conveniently. This integration facilitates a holistic approach to addressing the diverse needs of veterans and enhances coordination among service providers.

Prioritizing investments in veteran services reflects the community's appreciation and recognition of the sacrifices made by veterans in service to their country. By ensuring that veterans have access to the support and resources they need, Weld County demonstrates its commitment to honoring and supporting those who have served.
